RPS Competition in Scottsdale
Sunday November 13, 2005
I am humbled sometimes by how little I know ( please, don't send me an email agreeing with me). When I was a kid we played this silly game called Rock, Paper, Scissors. I admit it--I never got it. When would paper ever beat out a rock or scissors? I always thought being a rock was pretty safe. Anyway, I grew up, and then didn't think about Rock, Paper, Scissors for several decades. Today, I heard that not only is there an Annual Rock Paper Scissors World Championship, but last month a lawyer named Andrew Bergel was declared the best Rock Paper Scissors player in the world by playing--you guessed it--paper. Next week, in Scottsdale, you'll be able to see a real Rock, Paper, Scissors, or RPS, competition.
At 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 17, 2005 Roshambo Winery of Healdsburg, Calif. is teaming up with Tapino Kitchen & Wine Bar and Vino Lounge to host the inaugural Southwest RPS Showdown.
Named after the West Coast slang for the ancient game, Roshambo Winery is famous for hosting the annual RPS Championship. Unlike most sports that require helmets, leather gloves or elaborate equipment, all you need to compete in RPS is ONE hand, with three fingers on it, some brainpower and the physical stamina to play.
Tickets to participate in the tournament start at $10 in advance and $15 at the door. To purchase tickets call Tapino Kitchen & Wine Bar directly at (480) 991-6887.
Tapino Kitchen & Wine Bar and Vino Lounge are located at 7000 E. Shea Blvd in Scottsdale. For additional information about Roshambo Winery, visit them online.
