Cirque du Soleil Returns to Scottsdale
Wednesday November 30, 2005
Cirque du Soleil's Corteo will be performed under the Grand Chapiteau at Westworld in Scottsdale this coming March. I already have my tickets--first row. Woo hoo!! Want to know how I got tickets to Cirque du Soleil already? I'll let you in on the secret, but you have to promise not to tell anyone....
All you have to do is register at their web site to be a member of the Cirque Club. It's free. They will send you an email with a link for tickets that are being sold during pre-sale before the rest of the world can buy them. The Arizona performances of Cirque du Soleil's Corteo are scheduled for March 17 to March 26, 2006.
Here is a description of Corteo from the Cirque du Soleil web site:
"Corteo, which means "cortege" in Italian, is a joyous procession, a festive parade imagined by a clown. The show brings together the passion of the actor with the grace and power of the acrobat to plunge the audience into a theatrical world of fun, comedy and spontaneity situated in a mysterious space between heaven and earth.
The clown pictures his own funeral taking place in a carnival atmosphere, watched over by quietly caring angels. Juxtaposing the large with the small, the ridiculous with the tragic and the magic of perfection with the charm of imperfection, the show highlights the strength and fragility of the clown, as well as his wisdom and kindness, to illustrate the portion of humanity that is within each of us. The music, by turns lyrical and playful, carries Corteo through a timeless celebration in which illusion teases reality."
Cirque du Soleil apparently likes it here in Arizona, because this is the third time they've brought a show here in the past few years. Dralion was here in Tempe in 2002, and Varekai came to Scottsdale in 2004.
