Advocates of Proposition 106 say that this measure will protect 690,000 acres of some of the most important natural areas in Arizona from development, provide government the tools to control growth and to force developers to build quality projects, and protect and guarantee classroom funding to ensure better schools for Arizona.

Opponents to Proposition 106 say that the sale of state trust lands, and the money generated by those sales, were supposed to be protected for the beneficiaries of those trusts, including public education. Our state lands should not be managed by a politically appointed board. This proposition allows for non-monetary compensation for state trust lands, and is a government land grab by special interest conservation groups in Arizona.
