Wickenburg seems very far away in both time and space from our busy city life. It is actually in Maricopa County, even though it is about an hour northwest from central Phoenix. Wickenburg is a very western town now, and its history as a mining town is celebrated in one of its biggest annual events, Gold Rush Days.
Gold Rush Days draws tens of thousands of visitors to share western hospitality during the three days of activities which begin on February 8, 2007. Here are pictures I took at the Gold Rush Days Parade last year.
Don't let the photos fool you--there's a lot more to Wickenburg's Gold Rush Days than just the parade. Here's the entire schedule of events.
