Back To School - 5 Phoenix Stores With Special Deals

Wednesday August 6, 2008
Many schools are already in session in the Phoenix area. That means that hopefully you'll be driving slower near schools. I saw someone just this morning getting a citation for speeding through a school zone. Ouch, that hurts! But not half as much as how it would hurt a child to get hit by a car.

Besides school zones and school buses, and dropoff zones, and switching from "I'm bored" to "I hate homework" I've been noticing some of the ads for school supplies and clothing. I picked out 5 places that have locations all over the Valley of the Sun where you can cash in on some bargains if you haven't done your back-to-school shopping yet. And here they are!

Walgreens

Walgreens is a pharmacy, but they also carry a lot of items your kids can use. Look for Back to School ad specials (you can see them online) like:

  • spiral notebooks and notebook filler paper
  • highlighters
  • bookcovers
  • notebooks and pocket portfolios
  • pens, pencils, crayons and marker
  • art supplies
  • tape, glue erasers, sharpeners

Target

Target might surprise you if you haven't been there in a while. They have quite a large assortment of apparel, electronics, housewares and such for reasonable prices. Look for Back to School ad specials (you can see them online) like:

  • spiral notebooks and portfolios
  • highlighters, glue pencils, markers
  • backpacks
  • USB flash drives
  • shorts, shirts, underwear
  • athletic wear and uniforms

Office Max

You won't find clothing here, but the selection of school supplies will be bigger, including higher quality items than you might find elsewhere. Several items are buy one, get one for free. Look for Back to School ad specials (you can see them online) like:

  • spiral notebooks, binders, portfolios
  • highlighters, crayons, markers, pens
  • backpacks and bags
  • USB flash drives
  • erasers, scissors
  • blank DVDs, external hard drives
  • computer paper
  • desks and chairs

Big 5 Sporting Goods

Big 5 isn't as glitzy as some of the other large sporting goods stores, but if you are looking for some name brand athletic wear it might be cheaper here. Look for Back to School ad specials (you can see them online) like:

  • athletic shoes
  • sandals, dress shoes, hiking shoes
  • athletic apparel
  • backpacks and bags
  • watches, stopwatches
  • athletic gloves, bags, balls, protective gear

Kohl's

Kohl's isn't as expensive as Macy's or those teen clothing stores at the mall. There are almost always great sales on every day clothing, accessories and items for your home.

Look for Back to School ad specials (you can see them online) including:

  • little kids and teen apparel
  • accessories, underwear
  • name brand sandals, dress shoes, hiking shoes, boots
  • shorts, jeans, tees
  • backpacks and bags
