My Favorite Donuts

Friday August 8, 2008
I rarely eat donuts unless I'm traveling. It seems that when I am out of town, I feel less obligated to watch my weight or eat healthy. Now, I have a dilemma. My favorite donuts are even more accessible. Darn.

It seems that Dunkin' Donuts is revamping it's look for what they call "re-entering the Phoenix market." Seven stores will be opened (or re-opened) by August 15, 2008.

When I think of Dunkin' Donuts, I think of donuts with vanilla icing. Not the cake donuts. Yuk. I like the raised donuts. OK, I also think of those Bavarian Creme donuts with custard filling. Oh, and once in a while those jelly donuts. But that's about it. Except maybe those apple fritters. Did you know that Dunkin' Donuts now includes nutritional information on its donuts? Don't exactly know why I looked there....

Where will you be on August 15, 2008? I can tell you where hundreds of other people will be, because Dunkin' Donuts will offer all customers a free medium coffee (hot or iced) from August 15, 2008 through August 21, 2008 to celebrate the re-launch in Phoenix and introduce locals to a new line of sandwiches. The store at 1230 East Baseline Road (Baseline and Stapley roads) store in Mesa was chosen as the primary grand opening location. There will be a special store unveiling beginning at 4:45 a.m. (too early for me!) including appearances from city officials, professional athletes and Michael Moloney from ABC's Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. Someone in the Phoenix Forum mentioned that there will be fireworks and a 20 ft. video screen where you can play Rock Band at a pre-grand opening party at the Baseline & Stapley location on August 14th at 7 p.m. I don't know if free goodies will be available there.

The other six Dunkin' Donuts locations opening or re-opening on August 15 will also have special events.

Locations

Scottsdale
10629 N. Scottsdale Road (NE corner of Scottsdale and Shea roads)
2910 N. Hayden Road (NW corner of Hayden and Thomas roads)

Mesa
6606 E. McKellips Road (NW corner of McKellips and Power roads)

Chandler
2021 S. Alma School Road (SE corner of Alma School and Germann roads)

Queen Creek
18490 E. Rittenhouse Road (NE corner of Power and Rittenhouse roads)

Glendale
20229 N. 67th Ave. (NE corner of Loop 101 and 67th Avenue)

Apparently, Dunkin' Donuts plans to open 150 locations in the Valley area. Will a stop at Dunkin' Donuts become part of your morning routine?

I agree with your choices for Dunkin’ Donuts, but when it comes to the best donuts ever – nothing beats hot-out-of-the-fryer Krispy Kreme glazed donuts!

Went to the grand opening of Dunkin Donuts and was a little disappointed, not as many choices on donuts to choose from, did not even have Chocolate longhorns or old fashioned glazed donuts! Will head back to Albertsons for my next dozen.
