America Recycles Day

Thursday November 13, 2008
On Saturday, November 15, 2008 The City of Tempe is sponsoring a free recycling event. It will feature four stations designed to help keep personal documents, electronics, athletic shoes and plastic bags out of landfills. Each participant will receive a free Tempe reusable shopping bag.
  1. Shred-a-Thon: Participants are invited to bring their confidential documents to be securely shredded and eliminate the potential for identity theft.
  2. E-Waste: Participants can recycle their technology equipment, such as computers, cell phones and monitors in a safe and secure manner. Televisions will not be accepted. For additional information of what can be recycled, call Green Tech Assets at 480-964-3031.
  3. Nike Reuse-a-Shoe Program: Any brand of used athletic shoes will be collected and recycled. The material from these recycled shoes will go toward resurfacing sports courts. Laces and eyelets should be removed from shoes if possible.
  4. Bag Central Station: Participants can drop off plastic shopping bags for recycling.
Where: 2250 W. Broadway Rd., Suite 104, Mesa from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
