Wet 'n' Wild Phoenix Announces Opening Day

Monday June 29, 2009
Or maybe they don't. While residents of the Phoenix area wonder when the new Phoenix Wet 'n' Wild water park will open (it was supposed to open in mid-June) I, too, have been eagerly waiting my first visit so I can get some photos up for you. Imagine my excitement when I saw an email from them with the subject line, "Wet 'n' Wild Opening Date Information" and then imagine my disappointment when I opened the email and it was blank. Ironic, no? A quick look at the web site shows that it has been updated to read, "We appreciate your patience as we put the final touches on the new Wet 'n' Wild Phoenix. We anticipate opening in the next few days."

If they send another email that has any information it it, I'll pass it along!

Maybe they’re just waiting on a permit from the City of Phoenix. That could take forever.

Interesting. That’s not what they tell me. Final inspections have not happened yet. They might open this afternoon, but they don’t know yet.

In any case, it’s any minute now!

I was there yesterday. It was a ’soft’ opening. Good thing they did it, because half of the stuff needed repair when put under working loads. The wave pool and lazy river weren’t open, along with a couple of other slides. The place looks pretty good (compared to Water World. However, it is definitely not finished. I think they are doing these ’soft’ openings by word of mouth. They need to work out the kinks before they get real business.
