Phoenix, Scottsdale and Tempe Turn Their Streets Green

A full line-up of professionals is slated to speak at more than 100 educational sessions and workshops to enhance your green building knowledge. Former Vice President Al Gore who will deliver the keynote. The conference opens on Tuesday, November 10, 2009 and concludes on Saturday, November 14, 2009. You may register for the conference online or, when the conference begins, at the door. If you are registered for the conference, you may, at no additional charge participate in the Green Building Job Fair. Not so much interested in the conference, but want to see the latest and greatest in green technology products? Register for the Exhibit Hall only, where 1,800 companies are expected to be displaying their innovations.

Even if you can't attend the conference or the Expo, you can still participate in three related Green Street events during those days.

Green Street Tempe
Tuesday, November 10, 2009 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Defining Sustainability Art Exhibit at the ASU Art Museum. This exhibit presents a series of dynamic and interactive projects that will come together to illustrate sustainable ideas. The Desert Doghouse Competition teams high school students with professionals as they design and construct a sustainable doghouse. Ten lucky students will be showcasing their creations which will be auctioned off with all proceeds benefiting the Habitat for Humanity. Music on Mill musicians and performers will cover a variety of musical genres, reflecting Tempe's vibrant music history. Market on Mill will be the first sustainable, carbon neutral market in Arizona. Sustainable Living Classes will take place inside the MADCAP Theaters, offering a wide range of green living topics to attend for just $10.

Green Street Scottsdale
Thursday, November 12, 2009 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Green Street Scottsdale will celebrate the city's sustainability efforts as free events kicks off with a special ArtWalk in the Scottsdale Arts District at 7 p.m. along Main Street and Marshall Way with live Latin Jazz musicians, organic beer tastings, eco-friendly public art installations and interactive exhibits. The Scottsdale ArtWalk will feature artist demonstrations with recycled and reusable materials and live music from local bands. The SouthBridge and Scottsdale Waterfront areas are set to feature interactive exhibits including a photographic journey showcasing conservation efforts in the McDowell Sonoran Preserve along with a virtual hiking and rock-climbing experience, talks by renowned local architects, a gallery of all LEED-certified projects in the city and more.

Green Street Phoenix
Friday, November 13, 2009 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Saturday, November 14, 2009 at 8 a.m.
The Green Streets Festival in downtown Phoenix is a free community event open to the public on Friday, celebrating green initiatives, sustainability, arts and urban living. The Green Streets Festival will feature a premier Green Zone on East Roosevelt Street between 4th Street and 7th Street for vendors and demonstrations showcasing eco-friendly, sustainable products and services, information about energy and water saving resources and programs and green job training opportunities. On Saturday morning more green and cultural events take place starting with the Roosevelt Row neighborhood tree planting as part of the Mayor's Annual Day for Downtown.
