4 Free Things To Do In and Around Phoenix - Dec 2011 / Jan 2012

By December 26, 2011

Follow me on:

This week you can watch a bowl game that won't be on TV, watch movies, hear mariachis, and plan ahead to say 'ah".

This column includes activities and programs in the Greater Phoenix area that have free admission. If you are looking for fundraisers, seminars, workshops, and other community programs that have an admission charge, or where donations are expected, I have a separate column for those. I call them "Phoenix Area Programs & Events - Fee or Donation" and you can find those listings in my blog. They tend to cover a wider range of dates than a week, because advance registration is often required. For a long list of programs and festivals that are annual events in Greater Phoenix check the calendar.

What: Semper Fidelis All-American Bowl

The inaugural Semper Fidelis All-American Bowl, presented by JuniorRank Sports in partnership with the United States Marine Corps, will deliver a glimpse at the future stars of college and professional football in a traditional East versus West gridiron matchup between some of the most sought-after recruits in the country. Consistent with the Marine Corps motto, "the few, the proud," the student-athletes selected to compete are not only exceptional on the field, but represent the Marine Corps values of honor, courage and commitment in their everyday lives, a true distinction in the world of high school football All-American games.

More Freebies

If you've arrived at this page and find that the event dates have past, check my recent blog entries for more Free Things -- I write about free things to do in Greater Phoenix several times per month. Also, check that same blog list for another column on upcoming fundraisers, walks, runs, seminars, workshops and programs that might interest you. It's called Phoenix Area Programs and Events For Daily Living.

If you know about a free event that's open to the public that you'd like me to consider for this weekly column, complete and submit this form at least 8 days prior to the event and I'll consider it.
