Welcome to Palomar Hotel Phoenix

Earlier this month, on a bright, sunny morning in Phoenix, Arizona a new addition was welcomed into the downtown cityscape. Or, precisely, CityScape.

Hotel Palomar Phoenix is Kimpton's newest of the chain's stylish hotels, all designed individually with the location and environment in mind. Kimpton tells me that their goal is to make every hotel one that a guest feels comfortable enough in to call home, at least for a little while.

Our newest Kimpton hotel (we already have Kimpton's FireSky is in Scottsdale) was designed to capture the relatively new energy of the downtown scene with an emphasis on Arizona style. It's modern, bold, and comfortable all at the same time. I especially appreciate that the hotel features Arizona artists and special touches in all the rooms, without resorting to the stereotypical howling coyotes or metal saguaros. You will find snakes in the rooms, though. Don't worry, they don't bite. They are woven into the pattern of the carpet.

I took a look at several of the 242 guest rooms and suites. Yes, I want to live here. Each has 37-inch flat-screen TVs, 600-thread-count Frette linens, spacious showers and bath areas, pillow-top mattresses, feather pillows, custom Etro designer bath products and Kimpton's signature animal print robes. See how many Arizona influences you can find in the rooms, from the lamp bases to inside the closets.

Hotel Palomar Phoenix is sure to be a favorite location for corporate meetings, conferences and social events. On the third floor you'll find the outdoor pool terrace and Lustre bar with a fantastic view of downtown venues like the US Airways Center and Chase Field along with mountain views. Kimpton hotels are known for being pet-friendly, and Hotel Palomar Phoenix welcomes Fido or Fluffy.

The hotel's restaurant, Blue Hound Kitchen & Cocktails, will be a dining destination for locals as well as hotel guests. Chef Stephen Jones (most recently with The Boulders) creates menus for lunch, dinner, late-night and weekend brunch. Cocktails are a must!

As a guest at Hotel Palomar Phoenix, you will receive complimentary morning organic tea and coffee service in the living room lobby, a hosted evening wine hour seven days a week, complimentary Wi-Fi and Internet access for Kimpton InTouch members, complimentary access to the nation's first Gold's Gym Elite located on the 2nd floor, kid-friendly components with the Kimpton Kids program, including Fun Packs for children upon arrival, pet-friendly amenities and a Mind.Body.Spa. program, including the Joy Bauer Travel Healthy in-room dining menu, in-room spa services, on-demand TV programming and exercise accessories for in-room yoga, core strengthening and meditation.

Kimpton Hotels prides itself on hiring people who enjoy helping others, which they hope will translate into happy guests. The President of Kimpton, Niki Leondakis, assured us that finding the right people -- whether they had hotel experience or not -- was key to the strategy of providing guests with a comfortable and memorable visit. On opening day, I assume they were successful, because their very first guests at Hotel Palomar Phoenix was a couple on a "staycation" from Mesa, celebrating their anniversary. Did they have a good time? I would say so, because they extended their stay!

Accessible by METRO Light Rail, Hotel Palomar Phoenix at CityScape is convenient to many downtown sports, concert and theatre venues and is only about ten minutes from Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport.

To celebrate the opening, Hotel Palomar Phoenix is offering a $139 and $25 to Dine package. The package includes a deluxe room with a $25 credit to use in Blue Hound Kitchen & Cocktails or to enjoy in-room. The $139 and $25 to Dine is available from June 5 to September 3, 2012, based on availability. If you are attending any of the summer concerts at downtown venues during the next two months, why not combine that event with a stay at the Hotel Palomar Phoenix? Want to book other dates? Make a reservation!
