Yes, it does! Since the 4th of July is on a Wednesday this year, some Independence Day celebrations will be starting as early as Friday, June 29, 2012. Naturally, most of the events around town will take place either on July 3rd or July 4th, but I wouldn't want you to miss out on a big early-bird kickoff event this weekend!

Arizona Celebration of Freedom in MesaAfter you've enjoyed the festivities in Mesa, start planning the rest of your Independence Day schedule. Want to know which 3rd and 4th of July events have live music? Water activities? Fireworks? Here are those checklists:
- Festivals and fireworks that are free to get in. Some activities may have a charge, and you have to pay for food and beverages.
- Events, concerts, fireworks and sports that have a charge or require a ticket to get in. Even if your budget is tight, don't count these out! Some are just a few dollars and afford an entire day of family 4th of July fun.
