The largest Powerball jackpot in Powerball history had been growing since October 6th from $40 million to a total of $587.5 million, with a cash value of $384.7 million. Two tickets, one in Arizona and one in Missouri, had the winning numbers in the drawing that took place on Wednesday, November 28, 2012 and will split the prize. This is the 11th Arizona winning ticket in the history of Powerball. The last one was in September 2010.
The winning ticket was purchased in Fountain Hills at the 4 Sons Food Store, Chevron Station. It was a Quick Pick ticket with ten sets of numbers of numbers, a $20 ticket purchase. The store will get a $25,000 bonus for selling the winning Powerball ticket.
An Arizona lottery spokesperson reminds us that there were other winners in that drawing; two tickets for a $1 million dollar prize each were also sold in Arizona, as well as 26 tickets for a $10,000 prize. Even if you didn't win the jackpot, check your tickets.
As of this writing the winner has not yet come forward, which is not unusual in situations like this. Sometimes people take time to check their numbers. I didn't -- I checked mine right away! Often people safeguard the ticket and don't come forward until they get professional legal and financial advice. That's the smart course of action.
Need to check your ticket? The winning numbers for 11-28-12 were: 5 - 16 - 22 - 23 - 29 and the Powerball - 6. Congratulations to the winner!
