Advance registration is required at some these events, so you might see them listed here weeks before they are scheduled to occur.

What: Papa Murphy's Grand Opening
When: Wednesday, December 12, 2012 from p.m. to p.m.
Where: 5150 W. Olive Ave., Glendale
The store officially opens at 12:12 p.m. and to celebrate, they are giving the first 12 people in line a free large one-topping pizza. The event will also feature activities for kids and families including a meet and greet with the Glendale Police Department, free pizza sampling and $5 pizza specials for all guests. A portion of the Grand Opening proceeds will benefit Toys for Tots and customers who bring an unwrapped toy to donate will get $2 off a large pizza.
What: Release the Fear Art Show & Wine Tasting
When: Thursday, December 13, 2012 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Where: Harley's Italian Bistro, 4221 North 7th Avenue, Phoenix
A charity event for Release the Fear (local, non-profit) showcasing art by Valley youth, wine tasting, complimentary appetizers, live music. Meet Release the Fear founder, Robert Miley, and hear the heartwarming stories behind the works of art and how RTF has impacted Valley youth over 16 years. Free admission, $10 wine tasting with a portion of proceeds donated to Release the Fear. RSVP strongly encouraged.
What: The Naughty List
When: Friday, December 14, 2012. Doors 8 p.m. ahow 9 p.m.
Where: Le Chalet, 5626 W Bell Rd., Glendale
Provocatease presents a special holiday burlesque dinner theater spectacular. This intimate show will be held in a quaint French restaurant where guests will have the opportunity to dine on authentic French cuisine. Guests will undoubtedly end up on the naughty list after a sensuous night of erotic dancers, spine-tingling magic, food and wine, and risque comedy. Seating is very limited. Presale tickets $10 plus service charge. $5 food/drink minimum per person. Adults only.
What: Geology of Arizona
When: Saturday, December 15, 2012 at 1 p.m.
Where: Cave Creek Regional Park, 37900 N. Cave Creek Parkway, Cave Creek
Arizona is a diverse state, geologically, that has experienced volcanism and mountain building. Seas have come and gone. It's been carved by grand rivers, such as the Colorado, that gave us the Grand Canyon. The San Francisco Peaks volcanic field has Arizona's highest mountain. The Colorado Plateau with its "layer cake" strata is truly an anomaly compared to the rest of the state, making geology a real challenge. Special Guest Speaker, Joe Ford, retired teacher, a board member in the Sonoran Audubon Society and a member of the Sun City Rockhounds. Meet at the Nature Center in the Classroom. No registration necessary. $6 per vehicle park entry fee.
What: Certificado Local - Communidad en Accion Festival
When: Saturday, December 15, 2012 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Where: 8210 W. Indian School Road, Phoenix
Attendees to the festival can expect a fun-filled day of food, live music, kids' activities, and free community services by local health care specialists, legal services and more. Food (for purchase) will be provided by Tortas Paquime, Poblano Fresh and la Carreta De Lucy. There will be a raffle with more than $5,000 in prizes. Raffle tickets are available for purchase for $20 each at valley-wide Del Sol Furniture stores or at the festival before 2 p.m. Proceeds from the raffle will benefit programs and workshops aimed at strengthening the Spanish preferred communities around the Valley. Healthy living information will be provided. Rusty Jones, DDS and Risas Dental will be giving free dental check ups and Clinica Medica Familiar and Urgent Care will provide free medical exams.
What: Desert Devils Cheerleading Winter Carnival & Food Drive
When: Saturday, December 15, 2012 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Where: 1927 North Gilbert Road, Mesa
Raffles, amazing food, baked goods, games, prizes and more. Desert Devils Cheerleading will be collecting donations for the United Food Bank. With every canned good you donate you will receive a raffle ticket.
What: Winter Yoga Festival
When: Saturday, December 15, 2012 from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Where: 2302 N. 9th St., Phoenix
Spend a day submerged in yogic bliss and celebrate yoga, music, family and fun. Throughout the day, you can drop in on several mini-yoga classes, participate in our healing fair, shop at Yogi's Market and plant sale, bid on silent auction items and enjoy Indian food and music. Yoga and activities in the Kids Zone. For the hard-core yogis, participate in two-hour workshops with master teachers. Opening ceremony begins at 10:30 A.M. and festival closing at 5:00 P.M. Free admission and parking. $5 for mini-yoga classes (20min); $9 for Healing treatment (20min); $45 for Yoga workshops (2hrs) or $75 for both workshops.
What: Dixie Mine Hidden Petroglyph Hike
When: Saturday, December 15, 2012 from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Where: Dixie Mine Trailhead, Northern end of Golden Eagle Blvd. at end of road in Fountain Hills
This is a rare opportunity to hike to an area with ancient Hohokam petroglyphs. The Dixie Mine area has some fascinating history, and stunning hidden petroglyphs. This area is one of the best kept secrets in the Park. This 5 1/2 mile roundtrip hike has a few steep inclines, but the trail is well-maintained, and the reward is worth it. Bring more water than you think you'll need, and meet at the Golden Eagle trailhead in Fountain Hills. Park just before the Guard Gate at the end of Golden Eagle Blvd, and walk into the park. Call the Park for more detailed directions to the Trailhead. No registration necessary. $2 per person park entry (walk-in fee).
What: Polar Express
When: Thursday, December 20 or Friday, December 21 2012 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Where: Tumbleweed Recreation Center, Chandler
Enjoy a night of storytelling, crafts and hot cocoa as the Tumbleweed Recreation Center recreates the North Pole for one night of magic. Join excited children and parents in their pajamas as they wait for Santa Claus to present each child with the first gift of Christmas. For children 3-8 years old. Registration is required. What: Petroglyph Discovery Hike
When: Saturday, December 22, 2012 from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Where: Pueblo Grande Museum, Phoenix
An experienced Pueblo Grande Museum guide will lead participants on a three-mile, three-hour interpretive hike along the Beverly Canyon/Javelina Trail in South Mountain. This trail is moderate in difficulty. Advanced registration is required by December 20. Course #90057 Cost: $8.
