Last night about 500 smooth jazz fans were awed by the performances of Peter White, Dominic Amato, Euge Groove, Gerald Albright and Richard Elliot at a pre-New Year's Eve concert at The Wigwam in Litchfield Park. Peter White on guitar was as animated as I have ever seen him, and if sax players get your juices flowing, you were drowning (in a good way!) by the time this evening was over.

The show was produced by BTWconcerts.com which also brings us the Arizona Jazz Festival each spring and fall. Next up in April, the festival at The Wigwam will be two and a half days of smooth jazz bliss. Peter White will be there, too, as will -- just announced -- jazz legend David Sanborn.
Apparently, Santa was especially nice to many jazz lovers in the Vallery of the Sun this year, because hotel packages at The Wigwam sold out over the holidays. You don't have to stay at a hotel to attend the jazz festival, and it is very reasonable priced for general admission tickets. But if you want to get the full effect that will last you until the October jazz festival, you'll want to be close by so you can come and go during the weekend (read my tips). Just because the packages sold out, doesn't mean that all rooms are sold out at The Wigwam. If you can't get a room there, there are several decent hotels nearby, within about five miles of the resort. Don't forget that Avondale and Goodyear are not far away. (Book your reservation now.)
