President Bush Visits Arizona
Friday August 8, 2003
On Monday President Bush will be visiting Tucson. As is usually expected when the President visits any city, there will be many groups vying for attention, protesting, and letting the President know what they consider important at election time.
Among the groups expected to be in attendance are:
-Tucson chapter of the National Organization for Women, who oppose Bush's anti-abortion policies.
-Nurses and labor groups who are protesting the potential elimination of overtime pay for millions of Americans.
-Border activists who want to relax immigration laws.
-Gay and lesbian couples who will protest the President's opposition to same-sex marriages.
-Environmentalists who oppose President Bush's Healthy Forests Initiative.
And there are bound to be more. Most of these people will not even get a glimpse of the President, but it is the principle that counts! President Bush's trip to Tucson will be short--only a few hours long--and have an environmental focus. He will tour the parts of Mount Lemmon affected by the Aspen Fire, and will speak there about the Healthy Forests Initiative.
