In Arizona you may be able to obtain a permit to carry a weapon if you meet certain requirements and obtain the proper training. Here is how you get a permit to carry a concealed weapon.

Here's How:
- To apply for a Concealed Weapon Permit, you must be a United States citizen or permanent resident alien and you must be lawfully present in the United States.
- You must be at least 21 years of age.
- To apply for a Concealed Weapon Permit, you must not be under indictment or have not been convicted of a felony in the U.S. or elsewhere. You must not be convicted of misdemeanor domestic violence.
- You must not be under court order (i.e. order of protection, harassment, etc.), and you must not be a fugitive from justice.
- To apply for a Concealed Weapon Permit, you must not be a user of or addicted to any controlled substance.
- You must not have been dishonorably discharged from the Armed Forces.
- To apply for a Concealed Weapon Permit, you must never have renounced U.S. citizenship.
- You must not suffer from mental illness and must not have been adjudicated mentally incompetent or committed to a mental institution.
- To obtain a Concealed Weapon Permit you must satisfactorily complete a DPS approved CCW Training Program. The program lasts at least 8 hours.
- Concealed Weapon Permits may be renewed. You will receive a courtesy notification with renewal instructions. It will be mailed to the address on file prior to the expiration of your current permit. If you don't renew within 60 days of the expiration of your permit, you have to start the process again as a first-time applicant.
- You must be fingerprinted utilizing an "Applicant" fingerprint card provided by the instructor. No other card is acceptable.
- Using the return envelope provided, send the completed application, fingerprint card and a money order or certified cashiers check for the required fee to the CWPU.
- Certain law enforcement officers, active and retired, may apply for a one-time exemption from the initial 16 hour training requirement to obtain a permit.
- Persons who were born outside of the United States or one of its territories must provide a copy of proof of citizenship.
Tips:
- Convicted felons are not eligible to obtain an AZ Concealed Weapon Permit, even if their civil rights have been restored and their conviction has been expunged, vacated or set aside.
- The class must be taken with the State of Arizona.
- Background criminal history checks are performed.
