Every year the Arizona State Fair delights the crowds with standard favorites activities and events. The midway, the rides, the animal exhibits, the rodeo are all part of the grand tradition of the Arizona State Fair. But every year, the organizers of the event always introduce new attractions to add some variety and appeal to the programming.

What's New at the 2008 Arizona State Fair - Ongoing Activities

  • Mad Science presents CSI:Live
    Fairgoers experience the fascinating world of crime scene investigations firsthand, using their logic and know-how to help the CSI team examine evidence and test theories to solve a crime.
  • Banana Derby
    America's favorite monkey jockeys mount their canine pals to race in the Banana Derby.
  • Welde's Big Bear Show and Grizzly Falls
    The Welde family returns with their "pets," incredibly intelligent bears ranging in size from 200 to 1,200 lbs.
  • Kid Zone Jungle Safari
    The newly designed Kid Zone features a variety of fun and educational activities for all ages, including bracelet-making, button-making, artifact digging, gym mat mayhem, PlasmaCar rides, and youth crafts.
  • Macy's Petting Zoo
    Pet, feed, and learn about different kinds of animals.

What's New at the 2008 Arizona State Fair - Scheduled Activities

  • October 10 - 12
    Dora the Explorer - Nickelodeon's Dora and her monkey companion Boots journey to the Arizona State Fair.
  • October 11
    Ghirardelli Chocolate Championship at 2 p.m. in the Coliseum South Hall.
  • October 11 & 12
    Grandstand Event: Figure 8 Racing
  • October 16 - 26
    Rock Band. The revolutionary music video game from MTV Games and Harmonix is touring the USA. Bring your band or play with other rockers and battle it out during daily competitions. Rock all day for free on center stage, located at the North Entrance of the Arizona State Fair.
  • October 17
    Tom Owen, aka the Human Speed Bump, attempts to set a new Guinness World Record with up to 8 trucks (30,000 lbs) rolling over his stomach!
  • October 17 - 19
    Grandstand Event: Figure 8 Racing
  • October 17 - 26
    Caillou, the beloved PBS character of preschool kids, visits Phoenix.
  • October 21 - Nov. 2
    Thomas the Tank Engine is the world's most fun steam engine. Thomas takes young fairgoers on a read-along journey of imagination and creativity.
  • October 24 - 26
    Demolition Derby
  • October 25
    The United States Armwrestling Championships. The 6th annual standing-room only event will take place in the Arizona Lottery Backyard.
  • October 30 - November 1
    Grandstand Event: Rodeo
  • November 1 & 2
    Scottsdale's Lauren Gottlieb of "So You Think You Can Dance" performs, gives classes and signs autographs.
  • November 2
    Grandstand Event: High School Rodeo
