What is the Maricopa County Fair?
The first Maricopa County Fair was held in 1934 and each year thereafter until in 1954 a fire forced it to close. It reopened in 1975 and has been going strong ever since.The theme for the 2008 Maricopa County Fair is "Totally Ag-Citing!" emphasizing the focus on agricultural exhibits.
The Maricopa County Fair is a nonprofit organization. The mission of the Maricopa County Fair is "to provide an entertainment venue that will attract Maricopa County residents of all ages to participate in educational and competitive activities that promote life skills, with special emphasis on agriculture. This includes providing the youth of our community a public forum to showcase their talents in arts, science and other educational projects."
When is the Maricopa County Fair?
April 9, 2008: 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.April 10, 2008: 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
April 11, 2008: 10 a.m. to midnight
April 12, 2008: 10 a.m. to midnight
April 13, 2008: 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
The Horsemanship Events have been canceled for 2008.
What Happens at the Maricopa County Fair?
There are many exhibits at the Maricopa County Fair, including farm equipment, Four C's, farm tours and livestock exhibits. These are what really sets the Maricopa County Fair apart from your typical carnival. Kiddie Koral and Farm Tours will delight the younger children. There are marionettes and dog shows, fire safety demonstrations, and more. How do I get to the Maricopa County Fair?
The Maricopa County Fair will be held at the Arizona State Fair Grounds at 1826 W. McDowell Rd. in Phoenix. Here are directions and a map to the Arizona State Fairgrounds.How much does it cost to get in to the Maricopa County Fair?
Adult: $5; Child 6-12: $2; children under 6: free. In addition to the admission charge, an unlimited carnival ride pass is available. Tickets to the Extreme Sports Spectacular Arena Show are also in addition to the Fair admission.Are there any coupons or discounts available?
You can get one dollar off if you purchase your tickets in advance online. You can print those tickets directly from your computer.There are some special discount days at the County Fair, too. Everyone gets a discount at one time or another!
