April Festivals and Events in Phoenix

In a large metropolitan area like Phoenix, you might expect that there is always something going on. You are correct! Phoenix, Peoria, Scottsdale, Tempe, Mesa, Chandler, Gilbert, Glendale and many other communities have recurring events of which they are proud.

These are many of the community events that you can count on year in and year out. All dates, prices, and activities mentioned are subject to change without notice. Check the web site or call to confirm information. The activities in this event calendar are appropriate for families unless otherwise indicated. If they event is free, I'll mention that, too.

  • Arizona Asian Festival
    A free festival featuring ethnic cuisine, arts and crafts, and entertainment such as martial arts demonstrations, cultural dances and music from nearly a dozen Asian countries. Heritage Park.

  • Arizona Bike Week
    Bands, rallies, exhibits, competitions, charity rides, auctions, raffles--everything for the motorcycle enthusiast.

  • Arizona Book Festival
    Held at Carnegie Center in Phoenix. Entertainment, seminars, and thousands of books for sale.
    In 2008: Postponed until a later date to be determined

  • Arizona Diamondbacks Baseball
    The Arizona Diamondbacks play professional baseball at Chase Field.
    In 2008: Various dates in April

  • Arizona Ducks Day
    Fun on land and water. Arizona Ducks rides, balloon rides and more at Lake Pleasant. Entertainment, animals from Wildlife World Zoo, rescued dog adoptions, family activities.

  • Arizona International Latina/o Arts Festival
    A festival celebrating achievements of Latinas and Latinos in the arts, featuring events for artists, collectors, and the community.
    In 2008: Various dates in April

  • Arizona Sting
    The Arizona Sting team plays professional indoor Lacrosse at the Glendale Arena.
    In 2008: no games this year

  • Arizona Tattoo Expo
    Tattoos, piercings, contests, vendors.
    In 2008: April 4 - 6

  • Arizona Youth Fine Arts Festival
    Students from across Arizona performing dance, chorus and music on three stages. More than 100 vendor/sponsor booths. All proceeds benefit fine arts programs at local schools. Scottsdale.
    In 2008: Postponed

  • Arts Jam Festival
    Visual art from Cerritos Elementary, Estrella Elementary, Sureno Elementary- Kyrene District, Corona del Sol High School and other schools, main stage performances, dance performances, arts organization booths, free art activities for kids, percussion jam area. Tempe Library Courtyard. Free admission.

  • Avondale's Entertainment Series
    Free concerts and shows will be held at Avondale Civic Center Amphitheater. Bring lawn chairs and blankets. Pack a picnic dinner (no glass containers or alcohol), or purchase a meal from a vendor.

  • Central Arizona Cactus and Succulent Society Show and Sale
    Hundreds of Show Plants. Many succulent plants, photographs and pottery for sale. Desert Botanical Garden.

  • Chandler Jazz Festival
    The Chandler Jazz Festival attracts some of the best local Jazz performers to the Historic Downtown. The festival will be held in shops, restaurants, and on the streets throughout downtown Chandler.

    Free concerts at the amphitheater at Tumbleweed Park. Pack a picnic dinner, bring a blanket, sit out under the stars and listen to a different type of music each week

    Four days of camping and country music, "Country Kidsville", 150+ distinct arts and crafts vendors, and food court.

  • Crossroads of the West Gun Show
    At the Arizona State Fairgrounds. The shows offer hundreds of tables of interest to both the once a year hunter and the avid collector.

  • Desert Botanical Garden Butterfly Pavilion
    Walk among the beautiful butterflies at this special springtime event at the Desert Botanical Garden in Phoenix.

  • Dining Out For Life
    Many restaurants in the Greater Phoenix area donate a portion of each diner’s bill to Body Positive and Northland Cares. These organizations support thousands of people infected and affected by HIV and AIDS across the state.

  • Downtown Chandler Art Walk
    Visit more than 70 artisans set up along the streets in front of the unique shops and cafes of Historic Downtown Chandler. Free.
    In 2008: First Wednesday of the month

  • El Dia de los Ninos
    Over 40 booths with interactive games, entertainment and 5000 participants from across the valley and state. Sponsored by the Latino Institute. 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Margaret T. Hance Park. Free.

  • El Tour de Phoenix
    100-, 70- & 25-mile bicycle rides around the perimeter of the McDowell Mountains, also 4-mile & 1/4-mile kids fun rides. Prizes.
