• Family Film Festival
  The Maricopa Partnership for Arts and Culture is sponsoring a series of films for families that are either free, or if the venue typically has an admission charge, the film is free with paid admission. Glendale, Tempe and Phoenix. All films are kid-friendly. A variety of films, suitable for ages 2 -18 are offered.

• First Friday
  Visit more than 40 downtown Phoenix art galleries, studios and art spaces. Free.

• Friday Flicks
  The Town of Buckeye offers free movies. Children 9 years and under must be accompanied by an adult for PG rated movies. Children 12 years and under must be accompanied by an adult for PG-13 rated movies. Beverages and snacks are available for purchase. Locations vary. For more information call 623-349-6350.

• Ford Ironman Triathlon
  Arizona's Ironman triathlon features a 2.4-mile swim, a 112-mile bike and a complete marathon (26.2 miles). Many vantage points for spectators to view the races, sports expo. Tempe.

• Forks and Corks
  Food and wine samplings provided by 20 of the Valley's finest local restaurants, resort kitchens and national wineries. The event will include live musical entertainment. 21 and older only. $60 in advance, $70 at the door. Phoenix.

• Friday Night Bull Riding
  Rawhide, Wild Horse Pass. 7:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. $6 for adults, $3 for kids ages 3 to 12, under 3 are free. Tickets are good for both shows. Children can sign up for sheep and calf riding for a nominal charge.

• Gilbert Global Village Festival
  a community celebration of ethnic traditions from countries around the globe. Music, dance performances, visual arts, hands-on multi-cultural children's activities, crafts, food. Free.

• Gilbert Spring Concerts in the Park
  These free concerts take place at the Freestone Park amphitheater, located by the lake in Freestone Park (Lindsay and Juniper roads) in Gilbert. Bring a blanket or lawn chair.

• Gilbert Spring Fair & Expo
  Slides, inflatables, climbing wall, carnival game corral, a trackless train and two stage areas of live performances. Public vehicle display including a fire truck, police and streets vehicles. The Town of Gilbert Expo will be staffed with members of various Town of Gilbert Departments providing community information.

• Glendale Concerts in the Park
  Music by local entertainers held in the front lawn of Sahuaro Ranch Park Historic Area at 59th Avenue and Mountain View Road, between Peoria and Olive avenues. Bring lawn chairs and/or blankets. Alcohol and glass bottles not permitted. Call for more info 623-930-4200.

  Two days of--what else--jazz and blues!

• Goodyear Lakeside Symphony Pops Concert
  Gates open at 4 p.m., music begins at 5 p.m. The Phoenix Symphony will take the stage at 7 p.m. Lakeside Amphitheatre, Estrella.

• Heard Museum Guild Native American Student Arts and Crafts Show
  Artwork by more than 1,700 students from throughout the United States and Canada will be on exhibit and for sale. Most of the proceeds go to the students. Free with paid museum admission.

  Music, games, crafts herbal exhibits and demonstrations at the Boyce Thompson Arboretum.

• Jazz in the Garden
  Friday evenings starting at 7 p.m. Enjoy listening to a variety of jazz styles under starry skies on the Garden’s beautiful Ullman Terrace. Gourmet picnic dinners, bar, wine tasting for an additional charge. Desert Botanical Garden. Tickets must be purchased. Ticket price includes admission to the garden.
