In a large metropolitan area like Phoenix, you might expect that there is always something going on. You are correct! Phoenix, Peoria, Scottsdale, Tempe, Mesa, Chandler, Gilbert, Glendale and many other communities have recurring events of which they are proud.

These are many of the community events that you can count on year in and year out. All dates, prices, and activities mentioned are subject to change without notice. Check the web site or call to confirm information. The activities in this event calendar are appropriate for families unless otherwise indicated. If they event is free, I'll mention that, too.

• Concerts and Shows Scheduled For This Month in the Phoenix Area

• Arizona Antique Show
  At the Arizona State Fairgrounds in Phoenix.
  In 2007: November 17 & 18

• Arizona Cardinals Football
  The Arizona Cardinals play professional football in the Valley of the Sun.
  In 2007: Various dates in November

• Arizona Classic Jazz Festival
  Jazz, and lots of it! Chandler.
  In 2007: November 8 - 11

• Arizona Fall League Baseball
  After the regular baseball season is over, there are six more weeks of baseball in October and November when each of the 30 Major League Baseball teams selects 6 prospects to play in the AFL. At stadiums around the Valley.

• Arizona International Auto Show
  Hundreds of the newest cars, trucks, minivans and sport utility vehicles. Entertainment and celebrity appearances. Phoenix Convention Center.
  In 2007: November 22 - 25

• ArtFest of Scottsdale
  Fine art, live music, international foods, and an interactive family area featuring hands-on art activities and creative challenges for children. Over 200 select contemporary artists and crafts people from across the nation will show and sell one-of-a-kind artwork. Scottsdale Civic Center Plaza. Free admission.
  In 2007: November 17, 18

• Avondale's Entertainment Series
  Free concerts and shows will be held at Avondale Civic Center Amphitheater. Bring lawn chairs and blankets. Pack a picnic dinner (no glass containers or alcohol), or purchase a meal from a vendor.
  In 2008: November 14

• Bluegrass Festival
  Wickenburg. This three day event has featured the Four Corners championship contests for fiddle, flat pick guitar, banjo and mandolin.
  In 2007: November 9 - 11

• Breast Cancer Awareness Events
  Walks and runs to raise money to fight breast cancer.
  In 2007: November 2-4, 17

• Carefree Fine Arts and Wine Festival
  Arts, crafts, entertainment, wine. Over 160 artists will have displays. This is Arizona's largest wine tasting event, featuring wines from Arizona, California, Australia, Germany, Austria, France and Italy. Sponsored by Thunderbird Artists.
  In 2007: November 2 - 4

• Chandler ArtWalk
  Visit artisans set up along the streets in front of the unique shops and cafes of Historic Downtown Chandler. Free.
  In 2007: First Wednesday of the month

• Chiles and Chocolate Festival
  Desert Botanical Garden, Phoenix. Chili and chocolate products from local vendors, unique Southwest gifts, cooking demonstrations, Spanish Flamenco dance and Latin jazz.
  In 2007: November 10, 11

• Christmas Idea House and Home Tour
  They decorate a beautiful home that has been "loaned" to them and open the home for a tour. Christmas decorations and gourmet items for sale are made by members. Sponsored by Desert Club, a non profit Women's Organization. All profits are awarded to scholarships and special needs in the community.

• Cowboy Artists of America Exhibit
  The Phoenix Art Museum hosts this event. Paintings, drawings and sculptures. Many never seen before.
  In 2007: October 20 - November 18

• Crossroads of the West Gun Show
  At the Arizona State Fairgrounds. The shows offer hundreds of tables of interest to both the once a year hunter and the avid collector.
  In 2007: November 30 - December 2

• Day of The Dead
  Day of the Dead exhibitions, festivals, parties, and celebrations in the Phoenix area.
  In 2007: Late October - Early November

• Desert Botanical Garden Las Noches de las Luminarias
  The Desert Botanical Garden glows in the evenings with thousands of luminarias lining the paths.
  In 2007: November 23 - December 23

• Downtown Chandler Art Walk
  Visit more than 40 artisans set up along the streets in front of the unique shops and cafes of Historic Downtown Chandler. Free.
  In 2008: First Wednesday of the month

• Fall Concerts in the Park
  At Gilbert's Freestone Park Amphitheater, located by the lake in Freestone Park. Bring a blanket or lawn chair. Free. Food and beverages are available to purchase.
  In 2007: November 1

• Fantasy of Lights
  Downtown Tempe's tree lighting ceremony, parade and entertainment. Tempe Beach Park.
  In 2007: November 24

• First Friday
  Visit more than 80 downtown Phoenix art galleries, studios and art spaces. Free.
  In 2007: First Friday of the month.

• Fountain Festival of Arts and Crafts
  Fountain Hills. Arts, crafts, food, music, entertainment.
  In 2007: November 9 - 11

• Friday Night Bull Riding
  Rawhide, Wild Horse Pass. 7:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. $6 for adults, $3 for kids ages 3 to 12, under 3 are free. Tickets are good for both shows. Children can sign up for sheep and calf riding for a nominal charge.
  In 2007: November 2, 9, 16, 23, 30

• Giant Schnauzer Fun Day
  Deer Creek Animal Hospital, 3025 E. Rose Garden Ln., Phoenix from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Food will be available, Agility Demo, Grooming Demo.
