We've covered community tree lightings and festivals as well as local attractions where you can go and enjoy holiday lights. There is always a huge selection of holiday concerts and shows in Greater Phoenix during the Christmas season.
During this time of year, though, there are a variety of other types of activities and events that take place around town. There are holiday boutiques, photos with Santa, library activities, mall attractions and more. Take a look! (These are generally arranged in date order.)

Holiday Street Faire
Saturday, November 14, 2009. The grounds of the Challenger Space Center will be filled with a vendor booths selling jewelry, candles, arts & crafts, computer items, furniture, lotions, decorative items and more. Food and drink available for purchase. Entertainment. 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Santa Paws Pet Photos
November 14 & December 5, 2009. Get a photo of your pet with Santa or a Menorah, or a photo of just your family and your pet. Photos will be taken with a digital camera and sent to you via email within 2 weeks. $15. To schedule your appointment contact Noble Beast at 602-265-4223. Proceeds will benefit Arizona Basset Hound Rescue.
Winter Wonderland Miniature Golf
November 26, 2009 through January 3, 2010. Golfland's King Arthur's Quest miniature golf course will feature thousands of festive lights, dazzling displays and falling snow.
World of Trees Competition
November 28 through December 12, 2009. Nonprofits from Chandler and other parts of the Valley will be decorating trees with a country or international theme that will be on display in the shops and restaurants. Vote for your favorite tree. The nonprofit decorating the tree that receives the most number of votes, as well as the second place winner, will receive a cash prize. Winning nonprofits will be announced on December 19, 2009. There is no charge to see the trees or to vote.
Ornament Marketplace at The Heard
November 27-29, 2009. More than 20 talented Native artists have crafted ornaments featuring carved wood, miniature baskets, pottery and beads just for this event. Enjoy live music, book signings and hot cider courtesy of The Heard Museums Cafes. Marketplace admission is free. Two locations: Heard Museum Phoenix and North Scottsdale.
Teddy Bear Tea at the Ritz
Friday, Saturday, Sunday, November 28-December 13, 2009. A charming Victorian-style tea, complete with a visit from Mr. Ted E. Bear, story time, holiday carols and Teddy Bear dance. Weekend seating also includes The Club Bar. Served at noon and 3 p.m. $35 per adult/$25 per child ages 1 to 12.
Miracle on Main Street at Kierland Commons
November 28 through December 19, 2008. Photos with Santa, gingerbread cookie making, holiday music, snow, horse-drawn carriage rides.
Holiday Cheer at Westgate City Center
November 29 through December 19, 2008. Family entertainment, singing, snow, music and carriage rides.
Make-and-Take Christmas Ornaments
November 30, December 7 and December 14. It’s an Earth-friendly Christmas as preschoolers make beautiful one-of-a-kind ornaments using items such as empty cans, popsicle sticks, brown paper bags, CDs, cardboard rolls, etc. This parent/child activity is for 4- and 5-year-olds. 90 minutes, supplies included. $10 per class/per child. Pre-registration required. Challenger Space Center, Peoria.
"All Things Festive" Teen Holiday Trivia Contest
December 1-31, 2009. Test your knowledge of holiday movies, music, and customs from around the world. Teens, ages 12-18, may pick up a trivia game sheet in the Teen Zone at the Velma Teague Branch Library, 7010 N. 58th Avenue, beginning Tuesday, December 1. Return the completed game sheet to the Adult Reference Desk. If all answers are correct, you'll receive a small prize and a drawing entry for a chance to win one of two grand prizes to be awarded on January 2, 2010. For more information, call 623-930-3441.
Yuletide Tea at the Ritz
Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday, December 1-10, 2009; Tuesday through Sunday, Dec. 15-30, 2009 (excluding December 25. Traditional three-course holiday tea and a generous selection of teas presented in a luxurious and holiday festive setting. Music presented at the piano by Nicole Pesce. Served at noon and 3 p.m. $35 per person.
