Holiday Shopping Extravaganza
Saturday, December 5, 2009, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. More than 40 vendors at Crismon Elementary School, 825 W. Medina, Mesa selling a variety of unique gifts. A raffle will be held to benefit the Michael Trey Lane Medical Fund. Michael Trey Lane is a 4 year old boy who has been diagnosed with MPS IV-A. Although there is no cure or treatment for his disorder, he has been told that an infusion therapy is being tested. Admission is free. The first 100 visitors will receive a free goodie bag.
Christkindlmarkt
December 5, 2009. The Christkindlmarkt, a celebration held throughout Central Europe, will bring cherished German and European traditions to Mesa with holiday entertainment, German and Austrian cuisine, vendors and local artisans selling merchandise. Admission is free. Near MacDonald and Main in Downtown Mesa. From 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Holiday Ornament Brunch
Sunday, December 6, 2009. Guests dining at Lon's at The Hermosa may create their own holiday ornament keepsake during a special brunch from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Instructors and students from the Scottsdale Artists' School Youth Academy will hand-paint designs selected by brunch patrons. Four themes will be available to personalize the ornaments: a holiday/seasonal, children's, desert and a western theme. Proceeds from the one-of-a-kind ornaments, $30 each, will go towards scholarships for less-fortunate children to attend school's winter and summer camps. For reservations call 602-955-7878.
Lunch with Santa Coloring Contest
December 7, 2009 deadline for entry. 25 Winners will have lunch with Santa at the Elephant Bar Restaurant on December 19, 2009 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Kids 3-8 years of age can enter a holiday coloring contest. Pick up a coloring contest form at Chandler community and recreation centers or download it online. Have your child color it (no helping, mom and dad!) and submit the form to any Community or Recreation Center, or at the information booth at the Tumbleweed Tree Lighting Ceremony. The forms will be judged and the 25 winners will be called.
Holiday Gift Tags
Monday, December 7, 2009 at 7 p.m. - Two-person family teams can use their creative powers for exquisite gift tags. Children 5-9 team with other family members. Registration begins on November 23. Foothills Branch Library, 19055 N. 57th Ave., Glendale. Free.
Can't Catch Me…I'm the Gingerbread Man

December 8, 2009 deadline. Calls will be made December 13-17 between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. Surprise your child (ages 3-6) with a phone call from Santa. Pick up a “Santa’s Calling” information sheet at Chandler community and recreation centers or you can download it online. You can also get forms at the information booth at the Tumbleweed Tree Lighting & Parade of Lights.
Arizona Costume Institute Holiday Luncheon
Wednesday, December 9, 2009. 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Event sponsor, Saks Fifth Avenue will preview resort, holiday and luxury selections on live fashion models featuring such designers as Dior, Chanel, Marc Jacob's designs for Louis Vuitton, Giorgio Armani and Yves St. Laurent. Festive holiday choral selections will be performed by internationally renowned, Grammy award-winning Phoenix Boys Choir. InterContinental Montelucia Resort & Spa, Paradise Valley. Fundraiser to support fashion design collection at Phoenix Art Museum. Individual tickets $100.
12Ks of Christmas
Saturday, December 12, 2009. A 1.2K Santa "Sled Run" will be a fun run/walk/stroll for families, kids and pets with prizes for the best decorated, cutest pet and most Christmas Spirit. Students from Studio 3 Performing Arts Academy in Gilbert will put on a Christmas play, Gilbert Christian School students will sing carols. Other children's groups will sing carols along the race course beginning at 10 a.m. Hand-made arts and crafts for sale in the Christmas Bazaar. Santa's Pet Village. A portion of the proceeds to go to Maricopa County Animal Care and Control. Free admission for spectators to enjoy the singing and other activities. Registration fees apply for the 1.2K Santa Sled Run. Freestone District Park, Gilbert. 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
