Lunch with Santa Coloring Contest
December 7, 2009 deadline for entry. 25 Winners will have lunch with Santa at the Elephant Bar Restaurant on December 19, 2009 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Kids 3-8 years of age can enter a holiday coloring contest. Pick up a coloring contest form at Chandler community and recreation centers or download it online. Have your child color it (no helping, mom and dad!) and submit the form to any Community or Recreation Center, or at the information booth at the Tumbleweed Tree Lighting Ceremony. The forms will be judged and the 25 winners will be called.
Holiday Gift Tags
Monday, December 7, 2009 at 7 p.m. - Two-person family teams can use their creative powers for exquisite gift tags. Children 5-9 team with other family members. Registration begins on November 23. Foothills Branch Library, 19055 N. 57th Ave., Glendale. Free.
Can't Catch Me…I'm the Gingerbread Man
Mondays, December 7 and 14, 2009 at 10 a.m. and December 17, 2009 at 7 p.m. Besides fun stories about the Gingerbread Man, children will decorate their own yummy cookie. No RSVP needed. Foothills Branch Library, 19055 N. 57th Ave., Glendale. Free.
Holiday Puppet Show

Santa's Calling in Chandler
December 8, 2009 deadline. Calls will be made December 13-17 between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. Surprise your child (ages 3-6) with a phone call from Santa. Pick up a “Santa’s Calling” information sheet at Chandler community and recreation centers or you can download it online. You can also get forms at the information booth at the Tumbleweed Tree Lighting & Parade of Lights.
Arizona Costume Institute Holiday Luncheon
Wednesday, December 9, 2009. 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saks Fifth Avenue will preview resort, holiday and luxury selections on live fashion models featuring such designers as Dior, Chanel, Marc Jacob's designs for Louis Vuitton, Giorgio Armani and Yves St. Laurent. Festive holiday choral selections will be performed by internationally renowned, Grammy award-winning Phoenix Boys Choir. InterContinental Montelucia, Paradise Valley. Fundraiser to support fashion design collection at Phoenix Art Museum. $100.
Breakfast with Santa

12Ks of Christmas
Saturday, December 12, 2009. A 1.2K Santa "Sled Run" will be a fun run/walk/stroll for families, kids and pets with prizes for the best decorated, cutest pet and most Christmas Spirit. Students from Studio 3 Performing Arts Academy in Gilbert will put on a Christmas play, Gilbert Christian School students will sing carols. Other children's groups will sing carols along the race course beginning at 10 a.m. See web site for schedule of carolers. Hand-made arts and crafts for sale in the Christmas Bazaar. Santa's Pet Village. A portion of the proceeds to go to Maricopa County Animal Care and Control. Free admission for spectators to enjoy the singing and other activities. Registration fees apply for the 1.2K Santa Sled Run. Freestone District Park, Gilbert. 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The Great Christmas Cookie Hunt
December 12, 2009. Enjoy finding clues at various businesses, register for special basket and eat delicious cookies along the route. This annual event brings residents and visitors out to walk around historic downtown Wickenburg and enjoy shopping along the way.
Santa Fest
December 12, 2009. Members of Cops Who Care provided an opportunity for children to visit with Santa Claus and have their photos taken. Wickenburg Town Hall, 155 N. Tegner Street, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Kitschy Votives & Holiday Cards
Saturday, December 12, 2009 from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Teens ages 12-18 learn how to transform ordinary votive candle holders into works of art suitable for gift giving. Festival of Cheer
Saturday, December 12, 2009 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Hosted by Interfaith Community Care. Celebrating different cultures, holidays, and backgrounds. You and your family will travel the world without leaving the Valley of the Sun. Each station will have a variety of activities, such as cooking demonstrations, cultural entertainment, and children’s games. There will be a separate “Play Land” for children ages 12 and under with crafts, visits with Santa, and snow. Peoria Sports Complex.
Dolly Steamboat Christmas
Saturday, December 12, 2009. During the 90-minute Caroling Cruise scenic cruise ( 4 p.m.) you'll listen to and sing Christmas Carols, take pictures with Santa Claus, sipping hot chocolate and apple cider and munch on holiday cookies. On the 2-1/2 hour Parade of Lights Dinner Cruise (6:30 p.m.) you'll listen to festive Christmas music and see boats decked out in holiday lights while you enjoy a buffet-style dinner (not all-you-can-eat).
Holiday Art & Music Festival
December 12 & 13, 2009. Mesa Arts Center. The annual event features original works of art by nearly 75 local and national artists for sale, live entertainment showcasing local talent on two stages, artist demonstrations in glass blowing, metals and ceramics, children's activities, and a variety of beverages and food from featured local restaurants. Free admission, free parking.
