Holiday Art & Music Festival
December 12 & 13, 2009. Mesa Arts Center. The annual event features original works of art by nearly 75 local and national artists for sale, live entertainment showcasing local talent on two stages, artist demonstrations in glass blowing, metals and ceramics, children's activities, and a variety of beverages and food from featured local restaurants. Free admission, free parking.

Gingerbread House Decorating for Teens

Home for the Holidays
Saturday, December 19, 2009 from 5 – 9 p.m. JW Marriott Desert Ridge Resort & Spa in north Phoenix welcomes the public to holiday festivities. Photos with Santa and SpongeBob SquarePants, a luminary walk with the Dickens Carolers and s'mores, Lazy River duck race, children's holiday movies. See the resort's renowned gingerbread village, created by the resort's National Pastry Team champions. Complimentary gift wrapping, writing and mailing letters to Santa, holiday crafts, Revive Spa chair massages, a putting contest at the Wildfire Golf Club, and holiday food tastings from the resort's restaurants. Teddy Bear Tea in the Grand Ballroom at the Ritz
Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, December 20, 21 and 22, 2009. This holiday tradition features story time with Mrs. Claus, a visit from the Teddy Bear, a puppet show, balloons and greetings from Santa Claus. Served at noon and at 3 p.m. $35 per adult/$25 per child ages 1 to 12.

A Storytime for the Season
Tuesday, December 22, 2009 at 7 p.m. Christmas stories with a very special visitor. Parents may want to bring cameras. No reservations necessary. Glendale Main Library. Free.

Swimming with Santa at Kiwanis Wave Pool
The heated wave pool at Kiwanis Park in Tempe will open on December 26 & 27, 2009 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Santa and Mrs. Claus will be the guests of honor. Free prize raffle, holiday music and games, milk and cookies. Admission to the wave pool is $6: 13 years and older; $3: 2-12 years old. Discounted tickets may be purchased at the Kiwanis Recreation Center front desk beginning November 30. Swimmers may continue swimming until the pool closes at 5 p.m. Children under the age of 8 must have an adult with them at all times while in the water. In addition to the special event, Kiwanis Wave Pool will be open for Winter Waves December 26-30 from 1-5 p.m.

Holidays at the Heard
December 26-31, 2009 & January 2-3, 2010 from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Music and dance performances, artist demonstrations and special holiday programming. Free with museum admission.
