The Flags of Our Fathers

After John Bradley, one of the Iwo Jima flag raisers, died at the age of seventy his family discovered several boxes of letters and photographs that John had kept from his military service. James Bradley, one of his sons, became so intrigued by the stories represented by those keepsakes that he began a journey, including three hundred interviews, to create this publication.

There have been two postage stamps commemorating Iwo Jima. The U. S. Post Office sold over 137 million of the original stamp.
