Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community

Location: 15 miles northeast of Phoenix, next to Scottsdale.
Population: The Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community has 6,000 people, representing two pre-American Sovereign Indian tribes: the Pima and the Maricopa.
Size of Reservation: 52,600 acres
Attractions and Gaming: Hoo-Hoogam Ki Museum, The Pavilions shopping center, Casino Arizona (two locations).
Interesting Facts: The Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community was established in 1879. The two tribes that comprise the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community speak different languages. The Pavilions on Pima Road was developed on land leased by the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community. The 140-acre retail power center is the largest retail commercial development ever built on Indian lands.
