The Bottom Line

We had one appetizer, one soup, two entrees, and one dessert at Pasta Pomodoro. The bill, excluding beverages, and before tax and tip came to about $28. What a bargain! We are looking forward to our next visit!

Pros

  • Both Northern and Southern Italian menu choices
  • If you like garlic, this is the place

Cons

  • Chairs were hard and uncomfortable

Description

  • If there are ingredients that you'd like excluded, Pasta Pomodoro will prepare it that way.
  • The menu at Pasta Pomodoro isn't huge, but has a nice variety of dishes.
  • The menu has traditional favorites, with a bit of the chef's own signature to set them apart.
  • The environment at Pasta Pomodoro is crisp and clean and bright.
  • Sit at the bar, in front of the kitchen watching the chefs, or at a regular table or booth.
  • Portions are large, and prices are great. I don't think there's an item on the menu over $10.
  • There is a children's menu, and there were several families enjoying themselves while we were there.

Guide Review - Pasta Pomodoro

On our visit, we ordered a cup of tortellini soup and an appetizer of steamed mussels in garlic butter which was accompanied by garlic bread. Both were very good. The soup (this cup would be called a bowl in another establishment) was very nice with lots of spinach and tortellini, and the mussels were oh, so garlicky! It's a good thing we weren't on a first date! For our entrees I ordered the Gemelli, at the suggestion of our server. Corkscrew pasta, smoked chicken, sun dried tomatoes, mushrooms and garlic in a cream sauce. It was delicious. My companion ordered the Polpette, which is homemade sausage meatballs and spaghetti in a spicy sauce. Since this is what he almost always orders when we eat Italian, he thought he'd have a good basis for comparison! It was very tasty. The sausage was not too overwhelming, but it was obviously there. For dessert we shared a chocolate soufflé, which, thankfully, is not too big. It can be ordered à la mode. Very nice.

There is quite a bit of outside patio seating available. We took a double take when we saw an employee outside wiping off the leaves of a tree by the entrance, one by one. Now that's cleanliness!

Our server was quick to offer her suggestions when we asked for her opinion, and accomplished her goal of quick and efficient service with a smile. Our only criticism is that she brought the entrees before we were done with our appetizers.
