Phoenix has been known for many things. This city receives much recognition for being in the top ten cities in the country. For instance, it is one of the ten largest cities in the country. It is considered a 'business hot spot' being ranked one of the top ten cities to relocate or start a new business. Greater Phoenix was one of the top ten metro areas for jobs, based on both the percentage increase and the real increase in the number of jobs. The Chandler Ostrich Festival has been ranked one of the ten best festivals in the country. Phoenix is one of the top ten most misspelled cities in the country. Arizona State University in Tempe of one of the top ten largest universities in the country. And the list goes on. Some of our claims to fame are, well, not that positive. For instance, Phoenix is known for having one of the highest (if not THE highest) vehicle theft rates in the country.
But recently Phoenix was awarded recognition as one of Hershey's "America's 50 Sweet Spots" where Phoenix came in at number ten. According to Hershey's, best known for its chocolate products, "'America's 50 Sweet Spots' are clean, safe, family-friendly places with high rates of volunteerism, a spirit of community and a lifestyle that enables residents to embrace all that is good and sweet in life." All of the cities that Hershey awarded this honor to have people who have a high spending rate related to fun, recreational and family activities. These cities have frequent parades and celebrations that bring families and communities together. Another set of criteria involved romantic settings, historical landmarks, and museums.

Hershey's Foods may not have any factories here, and you can't take any Hershey's tours in Phoenix. But we do have some local companies that make sweet stuff that can be enjoyed here, or anywhere you'd care to have it shipped.
Founded about 25 years ago by Jim Cerreta, Sr. who learned candy making in his father-in-law’s factory in Ohio. It is still a family business. Located in Glendale, Arizona--and you can even take a tour!
Baked-from-scratch homemade cookies. Gift presentations, shipping available, or visit the store in Tempe, Arizona. I think the Cinnamon Rolled cookies will always be my favorite.
From a 42 year-old secret recipe, "every batch still starts with premium imported Belgian chocolate, fresh eggs, real creamery butter, fluffy cake flour and just enough sugar for the perfect sweetness."
It is wonderful to receive recognition--especially for the nice things. All I can say about this top ten award is--SWEET!
