With all the controversy surrounding the Phoenix Coyotes in 2009, most people weren't expecting much of a season. Even so, they won 50 games and went to the playoffs for the first time in eight years. They came up short in game 7 of the first round, however, and didn't advance. At the end of the 2010/2011 season the Coyotes came in 6th in the Western Conference and 10th in the NHL. It was the first time in franchise history that the team recorded back-to-back 40-plus win seasons and 99 plus point seasons. At playoff time, the Red Wings beat the Coyotes in the first round. The Coyotes have not won a playoff series since 1987. Could this be our year?
