It seems like baseball never stops in the Valley of the Sun. The Phoenix area and its visitors love baseball. The season may be over for the Arizona Diamondbacks by the time October comes around, but there is plenty of baseball to see to tide us over until Spring Training begins this winter. This is Arizona Fall League Baseball. These guys may not all be Major Leaguers (yet), but it isn't Little League either.

Arizona Fall League ("AFL") is owned and operated by all 30 Major League baseball clubs. Arizona Fall League is considered the step before entry into the major leagues for many players. Each August Major League Baseball holds a draft to determine who will be sent to the Arizona Fall League teams. Each of the 30 Major League Baseball teams selects 6 prospects to play in the AFL. Six teams will be assigned 30 players each, and they are organized into two divisions. The three teams in the American Division are the Mesa Solar Sox, Peoria Saguaros, and the Surprise Scorpions. The three teams in the National Division are the Phoenix Desert Dogs, Grand Canyon Rafters, and the Peoria Javelinas.
The 2008 Arizona Fall League schedule calls for games to be played between October 7th and November 20th with the Championship Game to be held on November 22nd at Scottsdale Stadium.
