The Ben Avery Shooting Facility operates under the auspices of Arizona Game and Fish Department. Sportsmen of all experience levels come to this facility for shooting, archery, fishing, offroading, seminars, workshops and other special events. One of the signature events of the year is the annual Arizona Game and Fish Department Outdoor Expo.

The Ben Avery Shooting Facility is located in north Phoenix, about 1/2 mile west
of I-17 (Black Canyon Highway) on Carefree Highway.
From the Southwest:
Take the Loop 101 (Agua Fria Freeway) to I-17 North (Exit 223). Exit at
Carefree Highway (SR74), Exit 23 West. Drive west about 1/2 mile to Black Canyon
Blvd. There is a large sign at the entrance to the facility. Turn right to get
to the parking area.
From the Southeast:
Take the Loop 101 (Pima Freeway) to I-17 North (Exit 223). Take the Loop 101 to
I-17 North . Exit at Carefree Highway (SR74), Exit 23 West. Drive west about 1/2
mile to Black Canyon Blvd. There is a large sign at the entrance to the
facility. Turn right to get to the parking area.
From the South:
Take I-10 north to I-17 North (Exit 223). Take the Loop 101 to I-17 North. Exit
at Carefree Highway (SR74), Exit 23 West. Drive west about 1/2 mile to Black
Canyon Blvd. There is a large sign at the entrance to the facility. Turn right
to get to the parking area.
