Arizona License Plates

Personalized/Vanity Plates in Arizona

More Arizona Personalized Plates>>

<<Intro and Most Recently Seen Arizona Vanity Plates

Here are some samples of personalized plates that I have seen around town. I will constantly be adding new ones. As I do, I will add them to the first, or intro, page so they are easy for you to find. I assume that I have the meanings of these vanity plates correct, but I'll never know! If you see a fun or clever AZ vanity plate, send me an email and tell me about it. Maybe I'll add it to the list! The personalized license plates that were submitted by About Phoenix visitors are marked with an asterisk (*).

An Earnhardt family member? No bull there either.

There are many options available in Arizona for specialized license plates. With more than thirty types of specialized license plates in Arizona, you can adorn your vehicle with a Former P.O.W. plate or  Purple Heart plate, or a Street Rod plates or Horseless Carriage plate. The most popular plate is, of course, the one that carries no extra charge. The standard passenger license plate has three numbers and three letters, assigned by the Motor Vehicle Department ("MVD"). If you want to get a personalized plate, there will be an annual $25 charge. The personalized passenger plate has a maximum of 7 characters that may be any combination of numbers, letters and spaces. No punctuation or symbols are allowed. All choices must be approved by MVD. Those choices for license plates that are considered inappropriate by MVD will be declined.

There is less concern about personalizing a license plate in Arizona now, since the law changed in 2002 and allows you to keep your license plate even if you sell your car. That's good news! Unless, of course, you had a plate like "MY BMW" and you decide to purchase a Cadillac....
