The FBR Open is one of the first PGA golf events of the calendar year. Formerly known as The Phoenix Open, it is also the best attended golf tournament of every calendar year. Last year more than 500,000 people visited the event. Because of the layout of the course and the parking, this event never sells out. Everyone who wants to attend can go. Why is it so popular? Could it be because of the location in beautiful Scottsdale, Arizona? Could it be because the weather is usually wonderful and sunny? Could it be because the best golfers in the world come to play in this prestigious event? The answers are yes, yes, and yes. In 2008, don't forget that many people will be visiting the Valley of the Sun for Super Bowl, so, yes, even bigger crowds are anticipated.

The 2008 FBR Open will be held on January 28th through February 3rd at the TPC in Scottsdale, Arizona. Here is the schedule of events for the tournament.

In 2007 Aaron Baddeley won the tournament (and a cool million dollars) with a score of 21 under par. Can he repeat? Johnny Miller was the last person to win The Phoenix Open twice in a row in 1975. Since then Hogan, Demaret, Mangrum and Palmer have also repeated as champions in successive years. Arnold Palmer is the only player to win three in a row. He did it in 1961, 1962 and 1963.

There have been 12 playoffs in the history of the Phoenix Open. The last time this happened was in 1996, when Phil Mickelson defeated Justin Leonard on the third extra hole.
