Ling & Louie’s - The Mood
The Ling & Louie's at the Wild Horse Pass Hotel & Casino is
located just off the casino. The oversized tables and chairs are worth
a mention, as is the modern decor and full bar. There are no casino
activities or keno slips or monitors here. Once inside the restaurant, you
can leave the casino behind in your thoughts. This is not necessarily
a place where your average casino patron will come to dine, since it
may be a little pricey for someone who didn't win at the slots. There
are other cheaper eateries in the casino area for those folks who balk
at a $20+ meal.
Ling & Louie’s - The Damages
My companion and I stopped in for lunch on a weekday. We ordered two appetizers, two entrees and one dessert. The total, excluding beverages tax and tip, came to $51. Quite expensive for a lunch, but it was also a great deal of food, half of which we took home. We aren't the only ones, apparently, because the take-home containers are large, as are the shopping bags in which they are packed! Most appetizers are in the $7 to $10 range, and appetizers are generally in the $11 to $15. The menu is the same for lunch and dinner. Lunch specials with smaller portions are available for $9.
My Review of Ling & Louie’s

Appetizers at Ling & Louie's made me think that I could certainly be happy coming here and simply ordering an appetizer as a meal! We tried the Crispy Calamari ($8) and the Ahi Lettuce Wraps ($8.50) and I honestly can't tell you which one I liked better. The calamari was tender and drizzled with a lightly spicy sauce. This appetizer is definitely enough for two and even three or four people. The Ahi Lettuce Wraps came with a generous portion of tender ahi chunks. Although I prefer hot and spicy sauce to sweet and spicy, I was very pleased with it and, again, two people should share.
For entrees we selected the Sizzling Shrimp and Chicken ($13.50) and the Evil Jungle Princess Beef ($14). Both were good. The Evil dish did not live up to its devilish name or menu designation for hot/spicy, which would please some people but I wanted more heat. I found the green beans strange as the vegetable, but the filet mignon pieces were nice and this is certainly a dish for anyone who loves Thai peanut sauce flavor (and I do); it was drenched in it. The sizzling dish was more what I expected, almost like an upscale fajitas, but again, with green beans. It was just a coincidence that both dishes we ordered had green beans as the main vegetable. For a sizzling shrimp and chicken dish, I would rather have peppers. Each dish could have been shared. After appetizers, one entree would have been enough for both of us, so order accordingly. Although an option for brown rice was on the menu, I was told that it has not been available at this location for more than six months. White rice, then, thanks.

The recommended dessert was the Chocolate Volcano ($7). The flourless chocolate cake with oozing chocolate center was a bit overwhelmed by the strawberries, ice cream and whipped cream, but who could consider that a true complaint?
Ling & Louie's prides itself on the unique menu which includes items not typically found in an Asian restaurant, like filet mignon, meatloaf, or chicken nachos with Asian guacamole.
Ling & Louie’s at Wild Horse Pass is open seven days per week for both lunch and dinner. On weekends it is open until 1 a.m. so it is a great option if you want some late night Asian food that isn't fast food. Wild Horse Pass Hotel & Casino is often referred to as being in Chandler, Arizona. Technically, it is on the Gila River Indian Community, just west of Chandler. Of note: The Ling & Louie's at Wild Horse Pass is a franchise. The original is the restaurant located in Scottsdale. There are two other locations in Colorado.
This Ling & Louie's would be a good option for late night dining, drinks or just dessert after a show at the Ovations Showroom. We managed to leave Ling & Louie's without being enticed by either blackjack tables or slot machines. Will you be strong?
