Red White & Brew - The Mood
Red White & Brew is half brew pub and half family oriented
dining. It's definitely a casual place, where live music plays in the
bar on weekends and families, co-workers, couples and larger parties
occupy the dining room. There are plenty of high-tops in the bar if
you'd like to catch the game on TV while you have a beer and
appetizers, or you opt for the dining room where you can watch the
staff in the open kitchen create your meal.
Red White & Brew - The Damages
Red White and Brew has very reasonable prices, especially when
you take into account the size of the portions. Two of us shared two
appetizers, a pizza, a pasta entree and a dessert. The cost
was about $25 per person, excluding beverages, tax and tip. That was more food
than any two people should be allowed to eat during one meal, and we
didn't come close to finishing the food that was presented.

No problem wearing jeans or shorts at Red White & Brew, stopping in for just a microbrew or a glass of wine at the bar, watching sports on several TVs while you enjoy happy hour. But you can also certainly skip television for an hour or two and have lunch or dinner in the dining area which is nicely segregated from the bar.
The name of this place may lead you to believe that wine and beer are the priorities, but you'd be mistaken. The menu at Red White & Brew is extensive and basic American fare. There are full size salads, seafood, chicken and beef entrees, pasta dishes, sandwiches and, of course, brick oven pizzas. Very garlicky rolls appease (licking fingers allowed) until the appetizers, large enough for two and sometimes three people, arrive. We tried the evening's special appetizer offering, Deep Fried Calamari Steaks Fra Diavolo ($9). The five calamari steaks were tender, with a little more breading/fried a little longer than I would have liked, but they were good and the Fra Diavolo sauce was fresh and delicious. Opting for an accompaniment that wasn't fried, we went with the Fresh Mozzarella, Tomato and Roasted Red Peppers ($8.50); it was a very nice choice, and our favorite of the two.

Those two appetizers might be a meal for some, but we were determined to press on. A 12-inch pizza was plenty large enough for the two of us, and the Chicago ($13) with Red White & Brew's home made pizza dough and all the toppings was a winner. It wasn't quite as thick as a pan pizza (that's a good thing for me), the dough was crispy and the toppings were plentiful. Just so we could say we tried an entree, we ordered Pesto Chicken over Cheese Tortellini ($14.50) with a much milder flavor than the other items on our table, but again, pleasingly presented and a huge portion -- it was packed with chicken, about 12 ounces, I was told.
I had my heart set on a cannoli for dessert when we started, but I couldn't bear to think about it by the time we were done with our main course, which we couldn't finish either! We order a dessert to share, the Homemade Custard Bread Pudding with Chocolate Chips drizzled with chocolate syrup ($5). It might be shunned by traditional bread pudding lovers, but we thought it was a great choice for people who don't like to be overwhelmed by chocolate. Again, it was huge and again, the two of us couldn't finish it.
Vegetarians will find several selections on the Red White & Brew menu, and the Kids Menu has good variety and includes a beverage and dessert for $5. All the menus can be seen online, as can the daily specials. Red White and Brew has two locations, Chandler and Mesa. Both are open for lunch and dinner daily. This review is based on a visit to the Chandler location.
