The mascot for Super Bowl XLII (Super Bowl 42) in Glendale, Arizona wears mirrored sunglasses (very prudent), has leathery skin (he should have used sunscreen) and has a name appropriate for both football and the saguaro cactus reflected in his shades: Spike.
