Who will be crowned Miss Arizona 2002 and go on to compete at the Miss America Pageant in Atlantic City? Here are the 18 young ladies who will be giving it their best at the Miss Arizona Pageant this June:

ANTHEM
Colette Beatty is seeking a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and would like a career in the banking industry. Her talent will be a vocal presentation. Colette’s personal platform is “Building a Positive Self Esteem” in the youth of the community.     

CHANDLER
Maria Maust is a graduate of the University of Arizona with a Bachelor’s degree in science. She plans to attend graduate school at Columbia to work toward a Master’s Degree in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology. Her talent will be a character jazz dance. Maria’s personal platform is CARE, Conserving America’s Resources Efficiently.

DOBSON RANCH
Kristin Walker is a graduate of the University Arizona with a major in dance and a minor in religious studies. She would like to direct a high school dance department. Kristin’s talent will be a character dance. Her personal platform is “Mentoring:  Read All About It.”

GILBERT
Amy Petersen is a summa cum laude graduate of Arizona State University with a degree in vocal performance. She would like to teach voice as well as perform and direct musical productions.  Her personal platform is “Volunteerism:  Enlightening and Empowering a Nation. Amy’s talent will be a vocal presentation.

GLENDALE
Titia Lewis is currently attending Cochise College, majoring in Interior Design with a minor in musical theater. She would like to become a professional performer. Titia’s talent will be a vocal presentation. Her personal platform is  “Youth Helping a Nation: Promoting Youth Volunteerism.’

GRAHAM COUNTY
Lanell Morris is a 1999 graduate of Thatcher High School who attends Eastern Arizona College majoring in music education. Lanell’s personal platform is “Domestic Violence: Breaking the Cycle.” Her talent is a vocal presentation.

GREENLEE COUNTY
Alisha Rodriguez is a 2002 graduate of Duncan High School who plans to enter the University of Arizona in the fall. She would like to pursue a career as an orthopedic surgeon. Her talent will be a dramatic reading. Alisha’s personal platform is “A Family is Forever – Family Values.”

LA PAZ COUNTY
Kimberlee Minor is a 2001 graduate of Parker High School who is attending Grand Canyon University majoring in nursing. Kimberlee’s personal platform is “Gim’me Five: Youth Volunteerism”. Her talent will be a vocal presentation.

MARICOPA
Laura Lawless is a Cum Laude graduate of Harvard University who is presently attending Arizona State University College of Law. She plans to become a practicing attorney dedicated to mental health advocacy. Her talent will be a piano performance. Her personal platform is “Mental Health Matters; Encouraging Awareness, Advocacy, and Action.”

MESA
Katherine Kennedy is a 2002 graduate of Arizona State University with a bachelor’s degree in journalism with an emphasis in public relations and a minor in Spanish. She would like a career in the public relations field. Her personal platform is “Expect Respect: Domestic Violence Prevention”.  Katherine’s talent will be a baton dance twirl.

NAVAJO COUNTY
Brooke Anderson is a 2002 graduate of Snowflake High School. She would like to achieve a Master’s Degree in Nutrition and Physical Fitness and eventually open an all female physical fitness center with nutritional counseling. Her talent will be a piano performance of a self-composed selection. Brooke’s personal platform is “School Violence and Family Violence Prevention and Reduction.”

SCOTTSDALE
Hilary Gushwa is a sophomore at Arizona State University, majoring in Small Business Operations and would like to open her own make-up company. Her talent will be an Irish dance. Hilary’s personal platform is “Heart to Heart: Finding Matches for Leukemia Patients.”

SIERRA VISTA
Jaclyn Cline is a 2001 graduate of Buena High School. She plans to enter the University of Arizona in the fall to pursue a degree in General Biology. Her career goal is to become a marine veterinarian. Her talent will be a vocal presentation of "Happy Days are Here Again.” Jaclyn’s personal platform is “Mentoring & Educating Today’s Youth, to Ensure a Better Tomorrow.” 

SOUTHEAST ARIZONA
Diana Elizabeth Jung is a junior at the University of Arizona majoring in journalism. She would like to attain a national position as a broadcast journalist. Her personal platform is “Mentoring today’s youth to better tomorrow’s leaders”. Diana’s talent will be a Chinese ribbon and fan dance.

SUN CANYON
Anni Turney is a graduate of Paradise Valley High School. Anni is currently enrolled at Grand Canyon University seeking a bachelor’s degree in theatre. She would like to pursue a career as a professional actress. Her personal platform is “Vote Today for a Better Tomorrow.” Anni’s talent will be  a vocal performance.

TUCSON
Jerusha Rubi is a junior at the University of Arizona, majoring in Theatre Arts Education. Jerusha’s talent will be a vocal presentation of “This is the Moment.” Her personal platform is “Mentoring: Enriching the Future One Child at a Time.”

TWIRLING ATHLETE
Kimberly Eastin is a 2001 graduate of Sunnyslope High School. She is currently attending Phoenix College to become a paralegal in family law. Her talent will be a baton twirl routine. Kimberly’s personal platform is “Personal Growth through Athletics.”

VALLEY OF THE SUN
Corrie Hill is an honors college graduate of Arizona State University with a Bachelor of Science in Marketing. She would like to earn a Master’s Degree in sports business and pursue a career in sports marketing. Corrie’s personal platform is “Domestic Violence – Prevention and Awareness”.  Her talent will be a character tap dance.
