UPDATE April 8, 2009: Scott MacIntyre's American Idol journey ended tonight, finishing in the top 8. Simon said that the group was split on their decision about saving him. Even though he was the first contestant to which they gave serious consideration for a save, they declined to do so based on the competition, meaning that Scott probably wouldn't survive more than one or two weeks more anyway. UPDATE April 1, 2009: Scott MacIntyre was not in the bottom three on today's American Idol results show. Declared safe, he's now in the top 8.

UPDATE MARCH 25, 2009: Scott MacIntyre was in the bottom three on today's American Idol results show, but he was declared safe. He's now in the top 9.

UPDATE MARCH 18, 2009: Scott MacIntyre was not in the bottom three on today's American Idol results show, meaning that he made it to the top 10. He'll be going on tour when Season 8 is over! From now on, I'll update Scott's results each week.

  • He was born on June 22, 1985.
  • Scott MacIntyre is visually impaired. He has been legally blind since birth.
  • He has played the piano since he was 3 years old, and has since cultivated a successful musical career across several genres, including pop, rock, punk, jazz, and classical.
  • He attended Arizona State University. He began college at the age of 14 or 15 (not sure which!) and graduated at 19 in 2005.
  • Scott MacIntyre has a masters degree in Performance Studies from the Royal College of Music and Royal Holloway University of London.
  • The recipient of many awards and accolades for both music and academics, Scott MacIntyre visited First Lady Laura Bush at the White House in 2006.
