The Ring-necked Snake (Diadophis punctatus) is a small to medium-sized snake. In Arizona it might not have the neck ring. It is active during the day, and hibernates in the colder months.

A Field Guide to Amphibians and Reptiles of Maricopa County will help you to learn more about and identify snakes that are found in central Arizona.
