The METRO Operations and Maintenance Center (OMC), was selected as the Public Works Project of the Year by the Arizona Chapter of the American Public Works Association in the "Structures" ($10 - $100 million) category.
Located at 48th Street just south of Washington Street, the METRO Operations and Maintenance Center ("OMC") is the site of all light rail assembly, operations and maintenance. The center will house a 200-person team of operators, mechanics, cleaners, signal technicians, traction power electricians, track maintainers and maintenance personnel. At the end of each day of operation, this center and staff will provide the daily vehicle maintenance to all 50 trains in the fleet, including any needed repairs, interior cleaning of all windows and fixtures and exterior cleaning via a large, automated car wash.
