Phoenix Light Rail Line Map - Section 5 The initial line of the METRO light rail system for Greater Phoenix will cover about 20 miles in Phoenix, Tempe, and Mesa, Arizona. The five line sections are separate only to the extent that the contracts may be completed by different companies and the construction schedules may be different. At the point that the light rail system opens to the public (late 2008?), there will be no differentiation between the sections.
