Last time I checked there were more than 250 movie screens in the greater Phoenix area. That means that wherever you are in the Valley of the Sun, you probably aren't more than 15 or 20 minutes away from a movie theater. Of course, depending on the hot new movie release of the week, 50 of those Phoenix movie theaters may be playing the same film!
Sometimes, always going to the closest movie theater isn't the point of the exercise. You might have a 20 theater megaplex nearby, but you'd rather see an art film today. Or maybe you haven't been to IMAX in a year or two. To find out what's playing in your neighborhood theater, it is handiest to use the geographic breakdown of theaters.

These movie theaters aren't showing first run films, but they may not yet be out on DVD or video either. These tend to be older theaters, and may not have stadium-style seating.
