West of Western features more than 50 of Arizona’s top Executive Chefs, Chefs de Cuisine, Pastry Chefs, and their crews, preparing and cooking their specialties. The Great Arizona Picnic and the Southwest Festival of Beers happen on the same days and at the same location. These are two of the featured events of the Scottsdale Culinary Festival. Several major cities around the country set a side a week where local restaurants can showcase their menus by offering a special meal at a special price. It's a great way to get to know some of the local dining options around town, some of which might have prices that are a bit our of reach when they aren't running a special promotion like this. Attend Phoenix Cooks! classes, culinary demonstrations, sample Chef creations and spirits, marketplace. The ultimate foodie event is the Phoenix Cooks! Dine-Around. Usually takes place: September.
Crave Arizona (formerly known as "Eats³") is organized by Savor Scottsdale, a consortium of independent, one-of-a-kind restaurants in Scottsdale, Arizona. The event highlights local chefs and one-of-a-kind dining experiences found only in Arizona. Usually takes place: October.
The Great Cajun Cook-Off is a cooking competition among amateurs in the categories of gumbo and jambalaya. Local residents vie to win the title of Best Gumbo and/or Best Jambalaya. Judging is done by both popular vote (attendees taste and vote) and a panel of local celebrity judges. Usually takes place: November.
Guests have the opportunity to mingle with the chefs and to taste their amazing creations, from delicious soups, salads and appetizers to some of their signature dishes and most decadent desserts. Proceeds benefit the Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts. Usually takes place: Fall.
