Arizona Is An Expensive State for Auto Insurance

Congestion and Auto Thefts Contribute to High Insurance Prices

By Judy Hedding, About.com

There are many factors that determine how much your auto insurance will be. You can be certain that auto insurance premiums in Arizona take into account the fact that the state has high rates of vehicle theft. Additionally, the city in which you live, your age, your gender, your driving history, how far you commute, other drivers in the household, and yes, even your credit rating, all factor into your Arizona auto insurance rates.

The Insurance.com 2007 Auto Insurance Pricing Report indicates that the average U.S. household paid $1,868 for auto insurance in 2007. People in Louisiana paid the highest price for auto insurance in the country--an average of $2,708 in 2007. The people who live in Ohio got the best deal, $1,301. In 2005, the state of Arizona was the 6th most expensive state for auto insurance. In 2007, the average Arizona household paid $1,902 for the auto insurance premium. That was a 1.4% decrease from 2006 rates and puts us at the 17th most expensive out of 48 states for which data was provided.
