The history of Turf Paradise in Phoenix, Arizona dates back to January, 1956. It was the first organized professional sports franchise in Arizona. Turf Paradise has one of the longest seasons of thoroughbred racing in the U.S. The track is a seven-furlong infield turf course with a one mile and one-eighth chute.

What is Turf Paradise?

Live thoroughbred racing is the attraction at Turf Paradise, located in north central Phoenix, Arizona. Live horse racing is conducted five days a week at Turf Paradise, generally Friday through Tuesday. Simulcasting from race tracks around the country complement on all race days. Turf Paradise hosts about 10 races a day scheduled approximately 30 minutes apart. Simulcasts from Turf Paradise are shown in over 2,000 locations in 35 countries.

When does Turf Paradise open for horse racing?

The racing season at Turf Paradise runs from early October through early May. On live race days gates open at 11 a.m. Post time is 12:30 p.m. until mid-February when post time changes to 1 p.m.

Grandstand: $2
Clubhouse & Turf Club: $4
There is a $5.00 per person seating charge in the Clubhouse and Turf Club. There is no seating charge in the Grandstand. Parking at Turf Paradise is free. Valet parking is available for a charge. Seniors discounts are available on certain days.

What else should I know about Turf Paradise?

Children 18 and under must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

There is a grassy picnic area adjacent to the Grandstand where there are shaded tables and a railbird’s view of the races.

There are two places where you can enjoy a meal while you watch your favorite horse win the race. The Turf Club is the VIP dining room, with tiered seating. Preferred dress is Country Club Casual. There's a $5 per person charge. For more casual fare The Clubhouse offers both full service and self service. Reservations are suggested for either dining option.

There are many Off Track Betting (OTB) sites for Turf Paradise in the greater Phoenix area.
