Guide Review - Field Guide to Amphibians and Reptiles of Maricopa County

Arizona Game and Fish's newest addition to their resource center is a handy, colorful, and incredibly informative little field guide entitled, A Field Guide to Amphibians and Reptiles of Maricopa County. Unexpectedly, it includes more than pictures of snakes and toads and lizards. The explanation and pictures of the six different biotic communities in Maricopa County, itself, was very interesting. The photographs of all the critters, along with the accompanying map of Maricopa County where one might expect to find the little guys, are very well done. It almost makes me want to go out hunting for snakes, toads, lizards and turtles--but not quite! But if you were inspired enough to make a hobby out of amphibian and reptile spotting (for picture taking, not killing), this field guide also includes a checklist, as well as tips and warnings, where appropriate.
