Taxi Vouchers For Workers With Disabilities

Alternative to Public Transportation

By , About.com Guide

If you work but have a physical disability, the bus may not be a viable option. Dial-a-Ride might not be scheduled in your area to allow you to regularly get to work on time. A taxi voucher program may be the answer.

Phoenix Public Transit’s taxi subsidy program offers taxi vouchers for people undergoing dialysis treatments or workers with disabilities who cannot use traditional buses. The program subsidizes 75% of a cab ride, up to $15. Voucher users pay the remaining 25% of the taxi fare (2009).

People using the subsidy program receive pre-printed vouchers indicating their home and work or appointment destinations. Vouchers work with any taxicab company in the greater Phoenix area.

To get more information about the subsidy program call 602-801-1163.
