The Arizona State Fair always looks for a large number of people to help create a fun and safe environment for everyone who attends. The Fair is held each October, and people are needed to work for the duration of the three week event, and sometimes for a period of time before and after. Day and evening positions, both full and part-time, are available. Applicants who are able to work each day of the fair are given priority in hiring. The positions that they usually look to fill may include:
- Laborers
- Custodians
- Customer Service
- Parking Attendants
- Ticket Sellers / Takers
- Clean-up staff
You must have reliable transportation to work at the Fair. The Arizona State Fair takes place in downtown / central Phoenix. Here's a map to the Arizona State Fairgrounds so you can tell where you will be going if you get the job. Free parking is provided for those that are hired. The employee parking lot is located at 19th Avenue & Encanto. If you won't be driving, the Fairgrounds are accessible by public transportation.
The AZ State Fair Human Resources Department usually starts hiring in September. Applicants must apply in person at the State Fairgrounds, Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The last day that applications will be accepted is Friday, September 23, 2011 for the 2011 Fair.
Note: The Arizona State Fair is not required to pay people at the state's minimum wage level. When applying for a position, make sure you ask what the hourly rate is for that job.
