In 1929 Dwight and Maie Heard established this location in what is now central Phoenix to house their personal art and artifacts collection.
Today, the focus of the Heard Museum is both traditional and contemporary Native American art. There are more than 35,000 artifacts in its permanent collection at the Heard Museum, displayed in 10 exhibit galleries.
